The day that laughter returned to America.

Some days never end. Indeed, history sees to it they live on for all eternity. 6/18/2026 is one of those days.
As a writer who feeds off Politics, I regretted that I was several towns away when it happened. I had an important appointment I could not miss.
That is what replays are for.
When IT happened, I knew it. What I saw when I arrived at home sweet home, only reinforced what I already suspected to be true.
6/18/2026 -- the day laughter came back to America.
To be sure, it’s been sorely missed. Over and over again, we’ve dreamt it. But when IT came, the American people knew it, and the bell-like trills of pure joy rang out like a million and one windchimes twinkling in summer breezes.
First, there was the Parade—the huge crowd, as millions of NY Knicks fans let forth their jubilation.
It is something many have also waited for a long time. And let me tell you, as one whose whole family was born in NY —Nobody — but NOBODY knows how to party like a New Yorker.
But then there was the Obama Presidential Library ceremony.
What a festive Thursday! What a healing balm. How we ALL needed this!
I will not go into depth on the ceremony. Chances are, many of you saw it. But did you not catch your breath in pure joy when Michelle Obama got her revenge by noting that her beloved husband had won the Nobel Prize?
The speeches were wonderful. The music was glorious. But it was and is, the LAUGHTER that remains in my mind, lingering there, like the last smidgens of a glowing sunset.
We’ve been through SO much together. You know we have. It is important to highlight the GOOD, the JOYOUS, and the HOPEFUL.
You will notice whose name I have not even mentioned in this article. There is no need to mention it for on 6/18/2026 -- the day laughter came home -- ALL REAL Presidents were there for the OBAMAS. The one who was not? He is not the president; he’s merely a RESIDENT of the White House whose lease will run out soon enough , and he will be gone.
This does not mean there won’t be rough times ahead. I could NEVER say there won’t be, with a straight face. Of course, there will be because the resident of the White House is a tiny but furious whirling tornado who causes destruction everywhere he goes. So, yes, there will be hard times ahead.
But there has been in the air a loosening, a gentle blossoming of HOPE, a joyful feeling that still hangs over us -- it is a reminder of what America WAS and will be again. Looking at all those happy, smiling faces, it was a celebration of hope, of the good and gentle side of politics.
We will have more of that when the midterms roll around. The fireworks we witness then will be neon azure blue as they paint the skies above.
In the meantime, never forget 6/18/2026 -- and never forget to laugh and to have hope.

Indeed, they brought the joy back BB!
Yes! Yesterday and today I’ve saturated myself in all things Obama. A balm for my soul. 💙💙💙
